The University of La Laguna inaugurated today, Tuesday, January 21, a new edition of its Open House Days<\/a>, This annual event aims to help thousands of young people about to embark on higher education make career decisions. For three days, from January 21st to 23rd, the Guajara Campus will host more than 9,000 students from high school, advanced vocational training programs, and other fields who will begin their university studies next academic year.<\/p>\n

The Rector, Francisco Garc\u00eda, and the Vice-Rector for Students, Rosario Hern\u00e1ndez, attended the inaugural lecture dedicated to the Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, which took place in the Aula Magna of the C\u00e9sar Manrique Building. This meeting brought together a large group of young people, many of them visibly nervous and with questions about their academic future, who did not hesitate to ask about the subjects, internships, and career opportunities.<\/p>\n

With backpacks full of doubts and hopes, many of the attendees admitted they weren't sure what they wanted to study. Some expressed interest in specific degrees such as Medicine, Computer Engineering, or Psychology, while others sought guidance on their potential career paths.<\/p>\n

Immersive experience for students and families<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The program is structured into three blocks of daily talks on different degrees, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., allowing students to explore up to three degree programs per day. In addition, the C\u00e9sar Manrique General Lecture Hall houses a permanent information point where specific questions are answered and further information is provided on the topics covered in the sessions.<\/p>\n

Students from schools throughout the community are expected to participate in the three-day event, so each day will be dedicated to schools in specific areas to control capacity: today, Tuesday, students from La Laguna and the north of Tenerife were received; on Wednesday, January 22, students from Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the south of the island; and finally, on Thursday, January 23, the rest of the islands.<\/p>\n

For families, an information session on access, scholarships, fees and university services will be held on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., with the aim of involving parents in the decision-making process for their children.<\/p>\n

Also, on January 22nd and 23rd, guided tours of the San Fernando Residence Hall will be offered, during which attendees will be shown the residence facilities and their importance as a space for coexistence and personal development.<\/p>\n

Employability and guidance as key pillars<\/strong><\/p>\n

The rector noted that this event aims not only to inform but also to foster dialogue with the community. He pointed out that the workshops reflect the institution's commitment to practical training, employability, and addressing social challenges, highlighting the work of the more than 200 faculty and technical staff participating in this initiative.<\/p>\n

With this close and comprehensive approach, Francisco Garc\u00eda recalled that the academic institution reinforces its role as an accessible, committed and future-oriented entity, helping thousands of students take their first step towards higher education.<\/p>\n

For her part, the Vice-Rector for Students emphasized the importance of these sessions not only as a forum for addressing questions, but also for highlighting the career opportunities offered by the institution's degrees. These include mandatory internships supported by more than 2,000 agreements with companies and institutions, guaranteeing a direct connection to the job market. This approach is complemented by teaching excellence and intensive research activity, which also contributes to the quality of education.<\/p>\n
