The president of the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE) and rector of the University of Castilla-La Mancha, Juli\u00e1n Garde L\u00f3pez-Brea, and the executive vice president of the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities (CRUCH) and rector of the University of Valpara\u00edso, Osvaldo Corrales Jorquera, signed yesterday, the 20th, the joint declaration<\/a> From the II Meeting of Rectors and Rectors Spain Chile: A university alliance at the service of people and Ibero-America.<\/p>\n

The closing ceremony of this academic event also included the participation of the rector of the host university, the University of La Laguna, Francisco Javier Garc\u00eda Rodr\u00edguez; the alternate executive vice president of CRUCH and rector of the Catholic University, Marcela Momberg Alarc\u00f3n; and the president of Crue Sostenibilidad and rector of the University of Le\u00f3n, Nuria Gonz\u00e1lez \u00c1lvarez. Following the reading of the declaration, it was announced that a third summit would be held in Chile in 2028.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>During his address, Garde highlighted the quality of the panels and presentations, which have established a clear direction: to address educational activities, share capabilities, and preserve the mission of the university. He thanked the University of La Laguna for hosting the event within Campus Am\u00e9rica 2026 and CRUCH for its "invaluable and structural collaboration." "We have made significant progress, and we will make even more," concluded the CRUE president.<\/p>\n

For his part, the rector of La Laguna emphasized at the summit's closing that it is important not to disperse efforts, but rather "to focus on the areas with the greatest potential." He concluded, "Spain and Chile have many areas that must continue to be strengthened.".<\/p>\n

The rector of the University of Valpara\u00edso and the rector of the University of Le\u00f3n were responsible for reading the declaration.
