The president of Crue\u2013Sustainability<\/a> and the rector of the University of Burgos, Manuel P\u00e9rez Mateos, along with the director of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation<\/a> (AECID), Ant\u00f3n Leis, and the director of Fundaci\u00f3n Carolina, \u00c9rika Rodr\u00edguez Pinz\u00f3n, participated yesterday, May 30, in the presentation of the "University, Knowledge and Agenda 2030" Awards for the best Final Degree Project (TFG) and Final Master's Project (TFM).<\/p>\n

The winning works in the 5th edition of these awards, organized by the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE), the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and the Carolina Foundation, were:<\/p>\n

In the TFG category: 'Rich woman, poor woman: gender occupational gap across wealth distribution in low- and middle-income countries<\/a>\u2018', carried out by Daniel Hern\u00e1ndez Pe\u00f1a, tutored by Professor Gustavo Alberto Marrero D\u00edaz and defended at the University of La Laguna.<\/p>\n

In the TFM category:\u2018Development in transition: perspectives to strengthen cooperation with Latin America and the Caribbean\u2019<\/a>, carried out by Berenice Miren Areso Yebra, tutored by Professor Miguel \u00c1ngel Gonz\u00e1lez and defended at the Diplomatic School of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation.<\/p>\n

The president of Crue-Sustainability and rector of the University of Burgos, Manuel P\u00e9rez Mateos, emphasized that this initiative by the Carolina Foundation, AECID, and CRUE "brings together two of the University's greatest challenges: internationalization and sustainability." He also congratulated and thanked the award winners for addressing social and economic sustainability in their "extraordinary work," aiming to "solve one of the biggest problems in society today: enormous inequality." "You are the future, and you will have the opportunity to lead change in positions of responsibility to create a more sustainable and just world," he concluded.<\/p>\n

The director of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), Ant\u00f3n Leis, highlighted the relevance of this initiative due to the importance of disseminating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to society in general, and to the academic world in particular, facilitating the integration of the 2030 Agenda into Spanish universities. "Reaching a fifth year proves the relevance of this initiative as a channel for disseminating the 2030 Agenda," he stated, adding that this initiative has been supported by some universities and municipalities in other areas also linked to the dissemination of the SDGs.<\/p>\n

For her part, the director of the Carolina Foundation, \u00c9rika Rodr\u00edguez Pinz\u00f3n, celebrated the consolidation of this competition, "which has become a benchmark event for the entire university community concerned with the 2030 Agenda," adding that "this is evidenced by the 3,000 works that have been submitted to these Awards since their inception and the enormous interest they continue to generate, mostly, and as usual, among women.".<\/p>\n
