The first day of the university entrance exams (EBAU) began in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife at 9:30 a.m. with the exam in Spanish Language and Literature II. Students were able to choose between two texts from which to answer a series of questions and write a commentary. The first was a column by Alejandra Clements in the newspaper La Raz\u00f3n, in which she presents prostitution and trafficking as a form of contemporary slavery. The second was the poem "A un olmo seco" by Antonio Macado, which prompted technical and literary questions and also allowed students to present their reasoned position on the debate surrounding the Canary Islands' tourism model.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Today and tomorrow, the EBAU (University Access Assessment) is holding its common exams, meaning those that all students must take, regardless of their chosen Baccalaureate track. These include Spanish Language and Literature II, Foreign Language II, and a choice between History of Spain or History of Philosophy. This Wednesday, June 5th, approximately 2,040 students from the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences tracks took the exam at various locations across the four western islands, while tomorrow, roughly 2,500 students from the Science and Technology track will take the test.<\/p>\n

No significant organizational issues were reported, and all exams began on time. The Vice-Rector for Students, Rosario Hern\u00e1ndez Borges, visited a class in the C\u00e9sar Manrique General Lecture Hall at the Guajara Campus to welcome the students and try to allay their understandable nerves: \u201cThe exam is something you've already done and practiced in class; there are no surprises. It's simply a matter of checking what you already know,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She also took the opportunity to speak to the students about the upcoming university stage, which represents \u201ca change of era and life that should be embraced with enthusiasm for the opportunities it opens up.\u201d Hern\u00e1ndez Borges expressed her confidence that they would find a degree that suits their interests and needs, and in that regard, she reminded them that the University of La Laguna offers 46 such programs. Finally, she reminded the students who ultimately enroll at the public institution in Tenerife that the academic year will begin on September 16th and that she will be there again to welcome them.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
