\"portada<\/a>The professor in the Ecology department at the University of La Laguna Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Fern\u00e1ndez-Palacios<\/a> He is the coordinator of \u201cThermophilic Forests: Canary Islands, Madeira, and Cape Verde,\u201d the second volume in a trilogy of books about the Canary Islands' forests, published by Editorial Macaronesia. It is now available in bookstores and will be publicly presented next Friday, September 27, at 8:00 p.m. at the ONCE headquarters on San Sebasti\u00e1n Street in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.<\/p>\n

This is a book written in a popular style, meticulously edited and designed, aimed at both environmental professionals and nature lovers of the Atlantic archipelagos in general. Like its predecessor, published seven years ago and focused on the laurel forest, this book features contributions from a large group of specialists, particularly from the University of La Laguna: in addition to Fern\u00e1ndez-Palacios himself, Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00f3n Ar\u00e9valo<\/a>, \u00c1lvaro Castilla Beltr\u00e1n<\/a>, Lea de Nascimento<\/a>, Enrique Fern\u00e1ndez-Palacios<\/a>, R\u00fcdiger Otto<\/a> y Natalia Sierra<\/a>, in addition to experts from external entities such as Rub\u00e9n Barone, Mar\u00eda Cristina Duarte, Agust\u00edn Narnajo Cigala, Sandra Nogu\u00e9 and Mar\u00eda M. Romeiras.<\/p>\n

\u00ab"Thermophilic forests. Canary Islands, Madeira and Cape Verde" compiles all existing knowledge regarding the thermophilic communities of Macaronesia, located, with different versions, in the archipelagos of the Canary Islands, Madeira and Cape Verde.<\/p>\n

The text includes how the concept of thermophilic forests emerged throughout the history of research in Macaronesia, the history of the Mediterranean climate and biome, the origin and distribution of the main thermophilic communities and the tree and shrub species that comprise them, as well as a review of the most important human impacts and existing conservation strategies.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
