Cirac afirm&oacute; que la mec&aacute;nica cu&aacute;ntica es una teor&iacute;a que describe el mundo microsc&oacute;pico, el cual est&aacute; formado por propiedades extra&ntilde;as que trata de descifrar. Por ello, resalt&oacute; que el principal reto ahora es \u00abdomesticar el mundo microsc&oacute;pico\u00bb<\/p>\n<p><P>La presencia del galardonado en la ULL se inserta dentro de las jornadas \u00abTiempo en mec&aacute;nica cu&aacute;ntica\u00bb desde hace once a&ntilde;os se celebran en el centro acad&eacute;mico. Adem&aacute;s, esta facultad ha acogido la presencia de otros cient&iacute;ficos con igual premio, como son Echenique, Garc&iacute;a Moliner y Cardona Castro.<\/P><P>Cirac, que trabaja en el Instituto Max Planck para la F&iacute;sica Cu&aacute;ntica, se dirigi&oacute; a un amplio y variado p&uacute;blico de alumnos y profesores, por lo que empez&oacute; disertando sobre conceptos b&aacute;sicos de su especialidad, como son las superposiciones o los estados entrelazados.<\/P><P>El investigador destac&oacute; que entre las aplicaciones de la mec&aacute;nica cu&aacute;ntica figuran el generador de n&uacute;meros aleatorios, los avances en criptograf&iacute;a o el logro de comunicaciones m&aacute;s eficientes. De hecho, dos empresas ya han hecho uso comercial de esta nueva tecnolog&iacute;a y ya cuentan cos sistemas criptogr&aacute;ficos. Cirac hizo tambi&eacute;n referencia al teletransporte como un m&eacute;todo eficaz para enviar comunicaci&oacute;n secreta.<\/P><P>Cirac es mundialmente conocido por sus contribuciones y propuestas para la construcci&oacute;n de un ordenador cu&aacute;ntico basado en los iones atrapados y luz l&aacute;ser. Sus propuestas m&aacute;s recientes descansan en las llamadas redes at&oacute;micas, en las que &aacute;tomos se alojan en nodos de una red y se les manipula con luz l&aacute;ser, de forma que se ejecuten operaciones l&oacute;gicas.<\/P><P>Esta XI edici&oacute;n de \u00abTiempo en mec&aacute;nica cu&aacute;ntica\u00bb tambi&eacute;n contar&aacute; con la participaci&oacute;n del profesor J.G. Muga, de la Universidad de Bilbao; G. Hegerfeldt, de la Universidad de Gttinga; D. Sokolovski, del Queens College de Belfast y M.
