Coinciding with its 11<\/span>th <\/span>anniversary, <\/span>Canada and Beyond: A Journal of Canadian\u00a0 Literary and Cultural Studies <\/span><\/i>has recently joined the University of Salamanca publishing\u00a0 program, and to celebrate this event and recognize the contributions of new scholars\u00a0 working in the field, the journal invites new submissions of original research articles in\u00a0 the field of Canadian Studies from graduate and early career researchers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We are seeking contributions of scholarly interest that reflect current critical approaches\u00a0 to the literatures and cultures of Canada. If you are a PhD student or an early career\u00a0 researcher in the field, we encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity to publish your research in our peer reviewed, open access journal indexed in MLA. <\/span>Modern <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Language Association Database<\/span>, <\/span>DIALNET<\/span>, <\/span>LATINDEX<\/span>, ISOC, <\/span>ERIH+<\/span>. Canada\u2019s literary and cultural studies have developed greatly since their first impetus at\u00a0 the dawn of Cultural Nationalism. In the last decades, a multiplicity of new perspectives\u00a0 has broadened the field, not only highlighting the diversity of cultural productions created\u00a0 within the geographical bounds of the country, but also problematizing widely accepted\u00a0 constructions of Modernity like citizenship or nationhood, and often destabilizing and\u00a0 transforming the textual foundations of the nation. The current interest in Indigenous\u00a0 studies, global and diasporic perspectives, or environmental analyses within the field\u00a0 bespeaks the transcendence of national frameworks. But, what is the present role of\u00a0 Canada\u2019s literary and cultural production? How will the development of new critical\u00a0 perspectives further our understanding of what we think of as <\/span>Canada<\/span><\/i>? Following this\u00a0 line of inquiry, this special issue stems from the editors\u2019 perceived need to create a space\u00a0 for new scholarship in Canadian studies, to present innovative directions within the field,\u00a0 and to facilitate the inclusion of new researchers in networking projects for future<\/span><\/p>\n

collaborative work. As such, this CFP is part of the work conducted within the funded\u00a0 project <\/span>TransCanadian Networks: Excellence and Transversality from Spain about <\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/i>Canada Towards Europe<\/span><\/i>.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

We encourage participants to examine how their scholarship furthers the field, be it by\u00a0 adopting new theoretical perspectives to address ongoing concerns of Canadian studies\u00a0 or by identifying and articulating new places of critical potential.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Proposals are invited from graduate and early career researchers in the field of literary\u00a0 and cultural studies of Canada\/Turtle Island. Topics for papers may include, but are not\u00a0 limited to the following:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
