News about the convent of Mínimos de San Francisco de Paula in Granada in the light of the disentailment of 1836
Abstract
This paper provides information about the Convent of San Francisco de Paula in the city of Granada, part of which is now the Carmen de la Victoria of the University, and which was exclaustrated during the confiscation of Mendizábal in 1836. This community was one of the richest and best endowed at the time. Through the disentailment records, we investigate the structure of its church and the composition of its chapels, as its church has not survived to the present day. We also explain how some of the church's belongings were distributed, extracting data from the various proceedings. In this way, we try to complete the little existing information with unpublished data that will help us to gain a better knowledge of this community and its belongings.
