No 23 (2025): Antiquity as a source of inspiration. Ancient history through cinema, comics, photography and visual culture.

On the occasion of the centenary of the release of Fred Niblo's film Ben-Hur (1925), the journal Latente proposes its annual monograph, coordinated by Óscar Lapeña Marchena (Universidad de Cádiz). It focuses on works that explore the diverse representations of antiquity in cinema, comics, photography and other forms of visual culture. This new issue analyses the way in which antiquity has been interpreted and represented over time, from classical works to contemporary productions, and reflects on its relevance in the construction of cultural narratives.
