Abstract

During the 2014 field season, burials were found on the promontory north of the temple. Archaeological works developed in consecutive field seasons have allowed the recovery of 32 burials, some of them intact and with interesting materials. This set of burials consisted of two types: graves that have one or more niches, and tombs that have a courtyard and a chamber carved into the rock. So far, 50 individuals have been excavated. Burials that had not been robbed have provided small funerary goods of various kinds. Ceramic vessels and necklaces were common among most of them. Additionally, some pieces of special value have been found along with them, such as a bronze mirror, headrests of different shapes and materials, offering tables and funerary limestone models. Preliminary ceramic analysis suggests this necropolis belongs to the time of the Eleventh Dynasty.
