The Data Protection Officer is the person who helps to promote proper compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation at the University of La Laguna. To this end, the regulation assigns the following functions: to inform and advise on the obligations arising from the Regulation and national legislation; to monitor compliance with regulations and specific policies on data protection; to offer advice, upon request, regarding data protection impact assessments and to monitor their implementation; and to cooperate with and act as a point of contact for the supervisory authority (the Spanish Data Protection Agency). The Data Protection Officer serves the university community—administrative and service staff, students, and teaching and research staff—and all individuals associated with the University of La Laguna, as an instrument and support for the proper guarantee of the fundamental right to data protection.
