In the Canary Islands, it is estimated that 7,000 people suffer from aphasia resulting from a stroke. This project focuses on developing a neurorehabilitation treatment (TOT) for non-fluent perisylvian aphasia using two non-invasive brain stimulation techniques (tDCS and TMS). Our main objectives are: a) to empirically validate which non-invasive brain stimulation treatment (tDCS or TMS) demonstrates higher and longer-lasting recovery rates in patients with aphasia; and b) to establish a non-invasive brain stimulation service for aphasic patients and design treatment protocols for other neurological disorders.
