This could reduce CO2 emissions by around 3 million tons per year and create more than 5,000 jobs. However, it is important to consider that rapid growth in RES could affect the economic dispatch of electrical systems due to their inherent security requirements. In this scenario, the most competitive RES plants will be those that connect to the electrical grid during periods of renewable overproduction. The objective of the BIGERO project is to manage the operation and maintenance (O&amp;M) of DISA Renovables&#039; wind farms and photovoltaic plants using big data techniques to increase their productivity and competitiveness. First, a series of data organization and visualization protocols based on business intelligence systems will be established. Subsequently, machine learning models will be used to improve the operation and maintenance (O&amp;M) of the plants. Connected devices based on the Internet of Things (IoT) will also be implemented to collect data and intervene in various processes according to the results of the aforementioned models. These devices and associated learning models will be the primary targets of technology transfer. Finally, a dissemination plan (scientific publications, industry conferences, media outreach, etc.) and knowledge exploitation plan (co-ownership licenses or channeling exploitation through a spinoff company) will be implemented.
