Grammatical variation and meaning creation in Spanish: central objects and desubjectivizing constructions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_tta_accordion shape=\u00bbsquare\u00bb c_icon=\u00bbchevron\u00bb c_position=\u00bbright\u00bb active_section=\u00bb\u00bb no_fill=\u00bbtrue\u00bb collapsible_all=\u00bbtrue\u00bb][vc_tta_section title=\u00bbResumen\u00bb tab_id=\u00bbresumen\u00bb][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>El objetivo de este proyecto es avanzar en la construcci\u00f3n de un modelo te\u00f3rico de la variaci\u00f3n morfosint\u00e1ctica en lengua espa\u00f1ola, a partir de resultados obtenidos en cinco proyectos anteriores basados en la misma l\u00ednea de investigaci\u00f3n. Su punto de partida es la incorporaci\u00f3n de los \u00faltimos avances conceptuales y metodol\u00f3gicos realizados en los estudios socioling\u00fc\u00edsticos sobre el estilo comunicativo, as\u00ed como el recurso a los principios de la ling\u00fc\u00edstica funcional y cognitiva como fundamento te\u00f3rico del an\u00e1lisis, lo que lleva a contemplar cada elecci\u00f3n ling\u00fc\u00edstica como dotada de significado inherente y no como mera alternativa formal a otras. Paralelamente, se pretende continuar con el desarrollo de una metodolog\u00eda adecuada, que combine los planos cuantitativo y cualitativo del an\u00e1lisis ling\u00fc\u00edstico. Dos son los fen\u00f3menos de variaci\u00f3n que se pretende estudiar: la variabilidad en la formulaci\u00f3n y la posici\u00f3n del objeto cliticizable (directo o indirecto), en continuidad con estudios previos sobre la misma variaci\u00f3n sobre el sujeto pronominal y el objeto verbal de persona; y el uso de distintas estructuras habitualmente clasificadas como impersonales, y que tienen en com\u00fan el ser empleadas por el hablante para desplazar la perspectiva discursivo-cognitiva del discurso desde su propia esfera nocional hacia otra que se percibe como m\u00e1s general; esto es, con una funci\u00f3n desubjetivizadora. Para todo ello se utilizar\u00e1n los materiales que ofrecen tres corpus sincr\u00f3nicos de espa\u00f1ol oral y escrito, en los que aparece representada una notable variedad de grupos sociodemogr\u00e1ficos y situaciones comunicativas, y que por ello resultan adecuados para el an\u00e1lisis de orientaci\u00f3n discursiva y socioling\u00fc\u00edstica. Se plantean las hip\u00f3tesis de que los distintos factores que covar\u00edan con las elecciones ling\u00fc\u00edsticas poseen una relaci\u00f3n semi\u00f3tica con los valores cognitivos de estas, y que la conjunci\u00f3n de todos ellos propicia el desarrollo de estilos sociocomunicativos; hip\u00f3tesis que se ven apoyadas por los resultados de los proyectos previos sobre la variaci\u00f3n del sujeto pronominal. Por ello, resulta obvio que el enfoque y la metodolog\u00eda de estudio de la variaci\u00f3n gramatical deben continuar ampli\u00e1ndose para abordar adecuadamente el potencial significativo de las variantes formales. El objetivo \u00faltimo de la investigaci\u00f3n es desarrollar una teor\u00eda explicativa de la variaci\u00f3n ling\u00fc\u00edstica como reflejo de la percepci\u00f3n humana de los procesos de la realidad, y a la vez como instrumento de relaci\u00f3n con el entorno.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=\u00bbAbstract\u00bb tab_id=\u00bbabstract\u00bb][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>The present project is aimed at advancing in the construction of a theoretical model of morphosyntactic variation in Spanish, drawing on the results obtained within five previous projects along the same line of research. It is inspired by the incorporation of the most recent conceptual and methodological advances in the sociolinguistic study of communicative styles, as well as by the principles of functional and cognitive linguistics as its main theoretical bases, whereby every linguistic choice will be seen as inherently endowed with meaning and not just as a formal alternative to others. Besides, it is our intention to further develop an adequate methodology in which the quantitative and qualitative sides of linguistic research are combined. Two variable phenomena are proposed for empirical investigation: the variation in the expression and placement of cliticizable (direct or indirect) objects, as a continuation of previous works investigating the same facts of variation and their notional grounds with regard to syntactic subjects; and the use of a number of structures traditionally classified as impersonal, which are to be understood as a wide range of resources employed by speakers to displace discourse from their own discursive-cognitive perspective to a more general onethat is, with a desubjectivizing function. Three synchronic corpora of oral and written Spanish will provide the materials for research; they reflect a wide range of sociodemographic groups and communicative situations, which makes them suitable for discursive and sociolinguistic analyses. The hypotheses are posed that the various factors covariating with linguistic choice are semiotically connected to the cognitive values of the latter, and that it is their joint action that gives rise to particular socio-communicative styles. Such hypotheses are supported by the results of the aforementioned research projects. It is therefore evident that the scientific approach to grammatical variation and the methodology for its study need to be further developed in order to adequately deal with the meaningful potential of formal variants.
