General Research Support Service

The General Research Support Service of the University of La Laguna is an innovative entity, intended to provide scientific, instrumental and technical support to research groups of the ULL, as well as to external researchers and private companies.

Provision of services

The services offered by SEGAI are very broad and subject to corresponding fees. In general, SEGAI's assistance activities can include:

  • Conducting trials.
  • Technological support for teaching and research through the rental of equipment and facilities (laboratories or operating rooms).
  • Technology consulting.

These services can be requested by:

  • Internal users, who are professors and researchers from the ULL, who are part of the registered Research Groups or of the Departments or Institutes of the same.
  • External users, which are those users belonging to both public research bodies and companies.

Internal/external users are classified as follows:

Owner users, These are users with the authority to authorize invoice payments. Internal primary users are the Principal Investigators of an ongoing research project, funded by public or private funds, or the Directors of Departments or Institutes at the University of La Laguna (ULL). External primary users are the representatives of entities or companies.

  • Authorized users by the account holder to request the provision of services but who cannot authorize the corresponding payment.

The first step to access the service provision will have to be taken by the account holder by registering in the SEGAI Integrated Management System. In addition to entering your personal data, you will need to indicate whether payment for the services provided will be charged to a research project, the Department or Institute budget, or billed to an external entity. The final step in this process generates a document of Registration Application, which must be printed, signed, and sent to the SEGAI Administration. The account holder may register/deregister authorized users as they see fit. Once registration has been confirmed via email, the user can complete the form on the website of the relevant service. Request for Provision of Services.

The Service staff will carry out the requested service and provide the user with a report of the results. With the user's approval, the SEGAI Administration will process the collection of the corresponding fee from the Accounting Department.

The provision of the service is guaranteed by the existence of a quality management system based on the UNE-EN-ISO 9001:2015 standard certified by AENOR.

Services offered to the user

  • Participate in national or international networks of research support centers.
  • To actively promote University-Business relations through the provision of services and training, as well as in the development and transfer of technology.
  • Develop methods and techniques to support research in accordance with the guidelines of the scientific policy of the University of La Laguna.
  • To support and provide scientific, instrumental and technical services to any public or private body, within the framework of agreements, contracts, or accords established with the University, as well as to individual users.
  • To support the research carried out by the different research groups of the University of La Laguna.
