Pre-registration phase

Potentially interested individuals will be informed about the program's features, access and admission criteria, and the administrative procedure for admission and enrollment through the usual channels and within the doctoral program offerings: online channels, posters, media outlets, institutional social media, and other official channels.

The university also has an Information and Orientation Service (IOS), which is the office dedicated to providing information, advice, and guidance to prospective students on matters related to their education and university life, as well as directing them to the appropriate offices with any more specific requests. Welcome and orientation of new arrivals

The Doctoral School will offer a welcome day for new students, as well as information sessions on specific topics of interest. All students are also enrolled in a virtual classroom for notifications and a communication channel.
Students will also attend a program presentation session led by the coordinator of the University of La Laguna's academic committee and will be included in a virtual classroom for the program.
In the Doctoral School Website There are several links with information on all the necessary procedures for completing a doctoral thesis, as well as the related forms. Of particular importance for new students may be the page containing all the regulations for doctoral studies.

Internal Quality Assurance Service of the University of La Laguna

As a guarantee of the quality of teaching, its improvement, and the protection of the rights of students and faculty, the degree program is governed by specific regulations regarding dissemination mechanisms within the University of La Laguna's Internal Quality Assurance System.

Admission requirements

To access any of the ULL's doctoral programs, you must meet the requirements established in Article 5 of the Regulations for Official Doctoral Studies at the University of La Laguna.
The applicant must present the endorsement of a researcher as a potential director of the doctoral thesis, meeting the requirements of Article 10 of the ULL Doctoral Regulations.Downloadable Guarantee Template

 
Admission profile

The entry profile required to access this doctoral program is as follows:
The recommended entry profile is a graduate in Science, Health Sciences, or Engineering and Architecture who has completed an official master's degree in topics related to the research lines of the doctoral program.
In addition, students must demonstrate a level of English equivalent to B1 or higher, which will guarantee their ability to present their research work in English at local or international meetings and conferences.
Likewise, the student must be able to learn independently, be predisposed to teamwork, and possess self-initiative, an entrepreneurial spirit, a critical attitude, and scientific curiosity.

Students with specific educational support needs

In compliance with Royal Decree 99/2011, of January 28, regulating official doctoral programs, a specific program is in place to assist students with specific educational support needs to promote their educational and social integration. Admission criteria

As established in Article 6 of the ULL Doctoral Regulations, the academic committee may establish criteria for the selection and admission of students. In the case of this program, the following criteria will be applied to evaluate applications:

  • Academic record.- Bachelor's degree (up to 4 points) and Master's degree (up to 2 points). The score will be obtained by normalizing the student's academic record grade to the intervals [0, 4] and [0, 2], respectively, using the following conversion when necessary: pass (1 point), notable (2 points), outstanding (3 points), honors (4 points).
  • Curriculum vitae (up to 2 points). Previous experience in research and transfer of knowledge related to the doctoral program's research areas will be valued. It is important to include certification of your English proficiency.
  • Personal interview (up to 2 points). The student's availability (total or partial) to write the thesis will be assessed, as well as his/her oral expression and teamwork skills, as well as his/her knowledge of English.

The minimum score for admission to the doctoral program is 5 points. The admission criteria will be the same for full-time and part-time students. Of the places offered, up to 301 TP3T (9 places) may be filled by part-time students.

Body in charge of the admission process

The body responsible for the admissions process is the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Program in Industrial, Computer Science, and Environmental Engineering at the University of La Laguna.
