Regulations for the presentation and reading of theses

Chapter III of Title II of the Regulations for Official Doctoral Studies at the University of La Laguna regulates the procedures for the presentation and defense of the doctoral thesis. It also regulates the requirements that a thesis must meet in order to include on its front the mention of "International Doctorate", the mention of "Industrial Doctorate", the modality of thesis by compendium of publications and the joint supervision regime in the doctoral thesis. The specific aspects of the I3MA doctoral program are detailed below:

  • PhD thesis: At least one JCR publication is required to authorize the defense.
  • Thesis Tribunal: All members, as well as the thesis director, are required to have at least one six-year research experience (or equivalent merits)
  • Thesis by compendium: As a general rule, three publications in scientific journals listed in the Journal Citations Reports (JCR) are required. Failing this, the following minimum requirements apply: two of the publications must be articles published in journals indexed in JCR in their Q1-Q2 quartiles or articles associated with conferences indexed in ICORE in its A*/A rankings or a combination of both criteria. The third publication, at least, must be associated with a journal indexed in Scopus or a conference indexed in ICORE in its A/B rankings.
