Competencies

Basic and General Competencies

One of the purposes of university-specific degrees is to contribute to lifelong learning from a university perspective. In this sense, the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) constitutes a reference for promoting lifelong learning. In line with this framework, postgraduate degrees guarantee, as a minimum, the following knowledge, skills, and competencies, corresponding to level 7 of the EQF. Students:

– CB-1. Possess and understand highly specialized knowledge, some of it cutting-edge in a specific field of work or study, which lays the foundation for original thinking or research.

– CB-2. Acquire critical awareness of knowledge issues in a specific field and at the intersection between different fields.

– CB-3. Develop specialized skills for problem-solving in research or innovation, with a view to developing new knowledge and procedures, and integrating knowledge in various fields.

– CB-4. Know how to manage and transform complex and unpredictable work or study contexts that require new strategic approaches.

– CB-5. Be able to assume responsibilities regarding the development of professional knowledge and/or practices and the review of the strategic performance of teams.

Specific Competencies

Throughout the two years of the master's degree, the student must acquire:

– CE-1 Advanced theoretical knowledge of systemic family therapy.

– CE-2 Advanced theoretical knowledge and practical skills on the main techniques and tools necessary to effectively carry out family, couple, and individual psychotherapeutic processes using a relational approach.

– CE-3 Advanced theoretical knowledge and practical skills on basic intervention skills and common factors essential in all psychotherapy.

– CE-4 Theoretical knowledge and specific skills for systemic intervention in psychosocial contexts of domestic violence, child protection resources, adoptions, and couples therapy.

– CE-5 Theoretical knowledge and specific skills for systemic intervention in different contexts within the healthcare network in the health, social, and educational fields.

– CE-6 Theoretical knowledge and specific skills of family therapy in

the main clinical disorders, both in adults and in childhood and adolescence.

– CE-7 Self-awareness of one's strengths and weaknesses as a professional, in relation to one's family and relationship history. This will facilitate one's professional practice by avoiding the vulnerabilities inherent in professional practice and avoiding displacing personal aspects onto patients/clients.

– CE-8 Competencies and tools to promote professional self-care, improving quality of life and avoiding burnout, which will result in improved quality of care.

– CE-9 Practical skills related to case analysis and intervention under the systemic-relational paradigm. This learning will be derived from attending live and recorded sessions, paper-based supervisions, and reflective enrichment from other students.

– CE-10 Practical skills in developing clinical sessions with appropriate guidance from clinical supervisors. Students will gain real-world experience in the intervention process with families, couples, or individuals using the systemic-relational paradigm.

– CE-11 Seek consensus and add synergies through teamwork, derived from working in co-therapy with another master's student.

– CE-12 Theoretical knowledge and critical awareness derived from reading books and other bibliography, as well as from analysis and individual and group reflection on the same.

– CE-13 Learn to extrapolate the skills and competencies acquired to incorporate said learning into the workplace

– CE-14 Knowledge and skills in evaluation and scientific research in the field of family therapy.
