Internships
The subject External Internships (PE) of the Degree in Accounting and Finance of the Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism of the University of La Laguna is one of the compulsory subjects of the Degree, which "aims to provide a greater practical component to their academic training, connecting university studies with professional activities and existing job opportunities. Therefore, carrying out external internships constitutes a formative value in itself, since it is an excellent mechanism for permanently connecting the university with the productive fabric and the business world, as well as with the institutional and organizational framework of the Canary Islands, while offering students experience in the world of work, undoubtedly very useful for their subsequent professional integration in occupations in the labor market appropriate to the knowledge, capacities and skills acquired in the degree studied" (preamble, Regulations for External Internships of the ULL).
The training activities included in this course are primarily practical and applied in nature and will be carried out, for the most part, in national and international companies, institutions, and public and private entities, including the university itself (managing entities), that have signed an educational cooperation agreement with the University of La Laguna.
Under no circumstances will these internships constitute an employment or contractual relationship, nor any other type of connection between the student and the company or entity where the internship takes place.

CURRICULAR PRACTICES
Requirements to take them
Be enrolled in the External Internship course during the academic year. To enroll, you must have passed all core credits.
Workload
Considering that the course has 18 ETCS credits and that each ETCS credit is equivalent to 25 hours of student activity, the course has a workload of 450 hours, which will be distributed as follows:
The timetable and activities to be carried out in this subject are obviously conditioned by the characteristics and availability of the collaborating entities, an aspect that the student must bear in mind when registering for this subject, as the Faculty cannot guarantee, a priori, that it can be taken at a timetable or period compatible with the other subjects enrolled by the student.
Collaborating entities
Collaborating entities are all public or private organizations, including the University itself (managing entities), that are likely to accept students for external internships and that have a current Educational Cooperation Agreement with the ULL.
Organization
Two internship groups will be organized during the second semester: Group 1 (February, March, and April) and Group 2 (May, June, and July). However, for the purposes of teaching organization, these may be carried out during the first semester of the academic year, if the Internship Committee so deems appropriate.
During the internship, the student will have two tutors: the External Tutor appointed by the collaborating entity and the Academic Tutor proposed by the Faculty. Coordination between these tutors ensures the organization, planning, and management of the student's work plan, as well as the evaluation and monitoring of the internship.
The procedures and deadlines students must follow for completing the course, as well as the assessment criteria, will be published in the virtual classroom supporting teaching on the ULL Institutional Virtual Campus for the course.
The Center's External Internship Committee is responsible for supervising the process of assigning students to the corresponding collaborating entities, as well as their academic tutors.
WORK EXPERIENCE
The Faculty Meeting held on July 23, 2018, agreed to recognize the 18 ECTS credits for external internships if the student has 400 hours of work experience registered with Social Security. Students requesting this must submit a form to the Secretary's Office of the Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism to request recognition of credits for external internships, addressed to the Technical Committee for the Recognition of Undergraduate Credits. The following documents must be attached: a) A work history report issued by the General Treasury of Social Security or the mutual society to which they were affiliated, detailing the periods of contributions; b) A report on professional activities duly completed by the student and the entity that must certify the activities carried out and skills acquired, in the case of employed work experience. The report on professional activities in the case of self-employed work experience must be completed only by the student.
