General information

The Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural and Rural Engineering trains professionals to work as Agricultural Technical Engineers, providing them with the skills to integrate into the agricultural sector, with a generalist education that enables them to adapt to technological, economic, political, and social changes. It offers the necessary knowledge to manage and produce in agricultural systems, design and execute projects in this field, and develop in various areas such as farm management, technical consulting, crop research and development, agricultural infrastructure design, and product quality assessment. It also provides training on new agricultural technologies and techniques.

This degree is generally aimed at those interested in studying engineering applied to the design and management of processes related to agriculture and rural areas, approached from both a technological and social perspective. Therefore, prospective students are required to possess or acquire a solid foundation in mathematics, physics, graphic design, biology, chemistry, and technology. Knowledge of a foreign language, preferably English, is also important.

This degree qualifies for the profession of agricultural engineering. Therefore, the main sectors in which graduates will work include agricultural and livestock farms, agri-food industries, environmental management, new production systems, territorial planning, solid waste management, organic farming, and the fertilizer, feed, irrigation, seed, and agricultural machinery industries, as well as fields related to gardening and landscaping.

The technological training provided by this degree enables students to draft and author projects, studies, and expert reports related to agricultural and livestock production, the agri-food industry, gardening, landscaping, rural development, and environmental impact. It also provides training for management, organization, and production in agricultural companies, as well as for conceiving, designing, executing, and managing projects in this sector. Their scientific training also enables them to develop lines of experimentation and participate in research and development (R&D&I) programs, as well as to integrate into multidisciplinary teams with national and international reach.

Graduates can also work as independent professionals or in government agencies, public and private research centers, or teach at the secondary, high school, or vocational training levels.
