Admission profile

Any student who meets the entry requirements established by current regulations can be admitted to the Graduate Degree in Marine Technologies since there is no limit on places. However, it is recommended that students have taken the Scientific-Technical option of the Baccalaureate. In turn, it is recommended to have taken subjects in: mathematics, physics, chemistry, English language and graphic expression.

In general terms, the ideal admission profile is defined as that of a student who has the following characteristics:

– Interest in science and technology applied to the maritime world.

– Interest in science and techniques applied to Industrial Machines and Systems.

– Analytical and logical reasoning skills.

– Rigor and method in work.

– Vocation of Merchant Mariner.

– Knowledge of the English language at the level of the University Entrance Exams

ACCESS AND ADMISSION

There are no special conditions or tests for access to the Degree in Marine Technologies. However, students are informed that in order to obtain the professional title of Second Class Machine Officer in the Merchant Navy, they must meet the following requirements external to the University:

– Assessment of the minimum required physical skills: Maintaining balance; climbing and descending stairs; manual dexterity, finger dexterity and endurance; lifting, dragging and carrying a load; squatting, kneeling and bending; distinguishing a specific object or shape at a distance; hearing a sound of certain decibels at a specific frequency; etc.

– To have passed the maritime medical examination for embarkation carried out by the Social Institute of the Navy. Graduates of this degree must fulfill this requirement externally and independently of their university studies.

– Recognition of professional specialty certificates before the DGMM

– Processing of the Maritime Registration Booklet issued by the corresponding Maritime Captaincy.

– To have completed a period of sea service of no less than 6 months. Students pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Maritime Engineering at the University of La Laguna may have their professional internships completed during their studies validated by the DGMM (Directorate General of the Merchant Marine).

– Pass the professional suitability test determined by the Ministry of Public Works.

The procedure for admission and registration of students in this degree is the same as for any degree without a limit on places at the University of La Laguna, so it is not necessary to complete the Pre-Registration Procedure.

The cut-off mark, understood as the mark of the last student who obtained a place in a degree, is not applicable to this degree because it will not be considered a limit on places. The regulation on the limit on places applies both to students who come from high school and to those who come from higher-level vocational training courses.

Regarding access for those over 25 years of age, interested students must comply with the current regulations on courses and entrance exams for those over 25.
