Frequently Asked Questions

What master's degrees can I study at the University of La Laguna?

The list of master's degrees offered can be consulted at this link.

Are the same master's degrees offered in the ordinary and extraordinary pre-registration calls?

During the extraordinary period, only the positions that have become vacant after the end of the ordinary call for applications are offered.

Is it necessary to have completed the master's degree access studies to pre-register?

It depends on the Master's degree. In Master's degrees that do not allow conditional admission and enrolment, it is a mandatory requirement to be in possession of an official university degree at the time of admission. In other Master's degrees, you must have the degree at the latest before the start of the last call for enrolment in the academic year of the Master's degree. See Annex 1 of the Instruction to see which Master's degrees offer this possibility.

If the previous studies have been completed at ULL, do I have to attach the documentation?

If you completed the qualification that gives you access to the master's degree at the ULL, in the third step of the pre-registration process, you must do the following:

Open and sign the Responsible Declaration.

Attach your CV, accompanied by the documents that prove the merits claimed for the selection process, in a single document in PDF format.

If you choose Conditional Admission and Enrolment, you must also attach Annex V, which you will find in the admission instructions on “Declaration of academic commitment for conditional admission and enrolment in an official master's degree at the University of La Laguna”

Is knowledge of languages other than Spanish necessary to access a master's degree?

To access the master's degrees, it will be a requirement to prove the language level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), which will depend on the master's degree you wish to access:

– As a general rule, for all master's degrees, an English language certificate equivalent to B1 is required. Non-Spanish speaking foreign students must have a B1 level in Spanish if it is not their native language.

– In the MU (Municipal Unit for Teacher Training) for ESO, Baccalaureate, Vocational Training, and Language Teaching, it will be a requirement to demonstrate proficiency in a foreign language at a level equivalent to or higher than B1. In the Foreign Languages specialty, the corresponding C1 level for each language will be required. Non-Spanish-speaking foreign students who completed their entrance studies in non-Spanish-speaking countries must demonstrate their knowledge of Spanish equivalent to level B1.

Can you study a master's degree part-time?

Yes. The ULL Progress and Permanence Regulations establishes the reasons for requesting part-time dedication and its accreditation. Students who wish to pursue these studies on a part-time basis will initially enroll in the full-time dedication modality, requesting, through the procedure established in the electronic headquarters of the University of La Laguna and within the periods established in the Instruction regulating the procedures for access, admission and registration in official Master's degree courses, the granting of the part-time dedication modality, considering that the applicant meets the conditions for it.

Is a foreign degree valid for access to a master's degree at the University of La Laguna?

You can consult the information about it in the following link.

What is the difference between pre-registration and enrollment?

Pre-registration is the first step in which the applicant's access and admission requirements are checked.

Enrollment is the process by which, once a place has been assigned, the applicant is admitted to the master's program.

Is there a fee to pay for pre-registration?

Yes. Decree 177/200 of the Government of the Canary Islands on Public Prices of Public Universities in the Canary Islands in its Annex 1 establishes a fee for processing pre-registration for official master's degrees (to be deducted from the registration fee if this is carried out) of ten euros.

Can I modify or add documentation to my pre-registration application?

Yes. You can do so while the application and documentation submission period is open.

If I have requested pre-registration in the ordinary call, can I participate in the extraordinary call?

In fact, they are not exclusive; you can apply for only one or both calls.

What documentation must be included in the electronic application to be admitted to a master's degree?

See the section “Required Documentation” in the following link of the electronic headquarters procedure

If my degree is foreign, do I have to submit the documentation translated into Spanish?

Yes. You must submit an official translation into Spanish of all the documentation you provide.

What certificate or qualification is recognised for the purposes of proving the language?

The list of documents and qualifications accepted for language accreditation, as well as the list of subjects taken and passed at the ULL that are accepted for access to master's studies can be consulted at the following link: link.

If I'm admitted to a master's program of my second or third preference in the first phase, and in the second phase I'm admitted to my first preference, can I change my program? Which option will be final?

If you are admitted in the first phase in your second or third preference and for your first preference you have to wait until the second phase and you are admitted, your first preference will be the final one.

If you are admitted in the first phase to a master's degree, this place will be reserved for you and you will only lose it if you are admitted in the second phase to a master's degree that is preferred for you.
However, the opposite is not allowed. You cannot choose your second preference if you are admitted to your first.
