Abstract
This papers aims to show the importance of the heir and of the transmission of memory in the novel Fleurs de Crachat, written by contemporary Quebec writer Catherine Mavrikakis. This study highlights the paradox that surrounds younger generations, since they must come to terms and preserve their ancestors’ past and at the same find and affirm their own identity. Communicative memory, cultural memory, imagination and space become the main forms through which the memory of the past is transmitted.
