Female contribution to Byzantine music: Casia of Constantinople
Abstract
The study provides an approximate view of women in the music of Byzantium through Casia of Constantinople, who not only excelled in the political, intellectual and musical fields, but also composed hymns that are still sung in the Orthodox liturgy.
