Data Sharing and Reproducibility

The International Journal of Gender Studies and Feminist Theory Clepsydra is committed to promoting transparency, reproducibility, and openness in scientific research. Data sharing is considered essential to ensure the validity, replicability, and reuse of research results and shall be subject to the following terms.

Fundamental principles

  • Transparency: The methods, analyses, and data used in the research must be described clearly, accurately, and in sufficient detail.
  • Reproducibility: The results presented must be documented in a manner that enables independent replication by the research community.
  • Open access: The data underlying published articles must be made openly and freely accessible, except in duly justified cases.

Requirements for authors

Data availability

  • Authors must make the data underlying their research publicly available whenever possible, while respecting legal, ethical, and confidentiality constraints.
  • Data must be provided in readable and accessible formats, preferably through recognized data repositories.
  • A persistent identifier (DOI or equivalent) must be provided for the datasets.

Detailed description

  • A detailed description of the data must be included, specifying their origin, format, data collection methods, and any restrictions on use.
  • Where applicable, the computer code used for data cleaning, analysis, and visualization must be provided.

Licensing

  • The license under which the data are shared must be specified, giving priority to open licenses that allow reuse.

Exceptions and considerations

  • Privacy and confidentiality: Applicable data protection regulations and confidentiality agreements will be respected.
  • Sensitive data: In cases involving sensitive data, authors must justify the impossibility of sharing them and explore alternative means to ensure transparency to the greatest extent possible.
  • Intellectual property rights: The authorship and intellectual property rights of third parties will be respected.

Benefits for authors

  • Increased visibility and impact: Articles that make their data available tend to achieve greater visibility and academic impact.
  • Scientific collaboration: Data sharing fosters collaboration among researchers and advances knowledge.
  • Validation of results: The ability to replicate results strengthens the credibility and robustness of research.

Clepsydra reserves the right to request additional information regarding the data and to assess their suitability for publication.
