Lingüística transformacional y condicionales griegas
Abstract
The author comments briefly on the application of the generative-transformational approach to the study of Greek conditional periods. Two aspects are addressed: firstly, Greek conditional periods in both the Homeric and Attic eras, constitute a superficial structure which corresponds to a deep structure with a disjunctive pattern; secondly, the replaceability (substitution) of εἰ (conditional) with ἤ (disjunctive), that is «f» instead of «or». In the opinion of the author, the above two concepts (structures and substitution) should be applied in unambiguous examples where no semantic alteration exists.
