La huella de Catulo en El beso de Abibina de Graciliano Afonso: a propósito de la Oda 11
Abstract
This paper attempts to show the influence of some of Catullus’ compositions and passages in his Liber over the works of Graciliano Afonso (La Orotava, 1775-Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 1861). With this aim, we shall be studying Ode number 11 from El Beso de Abibina, published in Puerto Rico in 1838, just when Graciliano Afonso, exiled from America, returned to the Canary Islands. We hope to show how this poet tried to lengthen the life of Catullus’ Latin lines through his own modest insular contents.
