Clichés on Egypt in Terenci Moix’s El amargo don de la belleza: Echoes of an image forged in Ancient Greece
Abstract
The image of Egypt that still persists in Western Europe can, in the main, trace its roots to Ancient Greece, it being the case that this image in fact evolved from a series of clichés generated in the Greek world. The principal aim of this paper is to analyse instances of these clichés in a contemporary novel, Terenci Moix’s El amargo don de la belleza.
