Bodega- Coliseum In La Marina Street In Santa Cruz de Tenerife
Abstract
Before the current Teatro Guimerá was built (1851), Santa Cruz de Tenerife had several places of a limited space to host more pretentious shows and plays. The so-called Teatro de la calle La Marina, also known as “The Coliseum-cellar”, which rised the curtains in 1835, was the only one which had a “municipal” nature where national companies came to act. By 1849 the theatre had serious difficulties to continue with its scenic activity, becoming a shelter. Abandoned by everybody, it was demolished because of urban growth.
