The Sahara, the world's largest and most perfect desert, is examined from the perspective of its evolution. Its climate, its evolution, and the disruption of its drainage networks are explained. The most recent paleoclimatic evolution and its impact on prehistoric human groups are also addressed, as well as the present and future of current Saharan populations in the face of serious environmental threats.
