Catalogue of the bibliographic and documentary exhibition The lifeblood of history: genealogy in the Canary Islands (from June 27 to July 28, 2025), held at the Library of the University of La Laguna within the framework of the XIV International Colloquium on Genealogy, whose purpose is to approach the historical roots of the Canary families by exploring the documentary collections of the Library.
These funds rest on two fundamental pillars: firstly, the exhibition displays a selection of archival documents, the result of the digitization project funded by the 2024 Participatory Budget, which created a genealogical database of family trees and documents from the archives of the Lercaro-Justiniani family, Francisco Montes de Oca García, Dacio Darias Padrón, and Rosendo García-Ramos y Bretillard; and secondly, it reveals the wealth and incalculable value of the engravings, texts, and valuable manuscripts preserved in the University's Rare Book Collection. In addition, the Library of the Canary Islands' modern and antique collection continues to grow daily with new acquisitions and donations.
