The orientation sessions, organized jointly each year by the Canary Islands' public universities and the Canary Islands Government's Department of Education and Universities, take place during October and November on each of the islands. Their aim is to provide a day of work and information sharing for educational guidance professionals from secondary schools in the Canary Islands. The sessions offer a space and time to learn about and reflect on the various issues that affect the educational transition experienced by students in upper secondary education (Bachillerato) and vocational training programs before entering university.
In addition, technical guidance staff are encouraged to give their opinions and raise issues related to the university and access to it.
It is a virtual classroom called “Space for Guidance”, shared with the guidance teaching staff of the educational centers, where a space is established that allows a communication channel between the secondary schools and the University of La Laguna to:
- To foster a space for dialogue and reflection on Higher Education and access to university studies.
- To share and enhance knowledge and communication between the guidance teaching staff and this university.
- To understand the demands of the guidance teaching staff in relation to their work in pre-university guidance.
- To provide a space to access information about the University of La Laguna relating to new pathways and processes for accessing university studies; the degrees offered and the training routes for postgraduate and doctoral studies; services and aid for students; program of information and guidance activities, etc.
