The Professor Agustín Arévalo Tower (colloquially known as the Chemistry Tower) is a busy building housing a wide variety of entities: the Faculty of Education's administrative and dean's offices, the Faculty of Education's lecture halls, the FGULL (University of La Laguna Foundation), the Language Institute, the Equality Unit, the IUEM (University Institute of Women), and others. It is estimated that approximately 1,500 students pass through this space daily to attend classes at the Faculty of Education, in addition to a large number of students and people from outside the University of La Laguna who visit the Language Service, the FGULL, and other facilities. Therefore, the condition of this building has a significant impact on the institutional image of the University of La Laguna. Both the Faculty of Architecture, University of La Laguna (FGULL) and the Faculty of Education have made efforts in this regard, but many aspects still need addressing, especially in the building's entrance hall and the transit area to the elevators, whose current state can create a negative institutional impression on those who study or work in the tower or attend meetings there. This project focuses on improving the entrance and transit areas to the elevators in order to enhance the institutional image of the University of La Laguna (ULL). These areas include the glass-enclosed entrance hall, the waiting room of the Faculty of Education's administrative office, and the elevator corridor, all of which are currently in poor condition.
