Acquisition of a professional overhead scanner for the digitization of the Heritage Funds of the University of La Laguna

The University of La Laguna Library holds important and valuable documentary collections, both manuscripts and printed materials, in its Rare Books Collection and the Library of the Canary Islands, as well as in personal and institutional archives. The unique nature and, in many cases, the fragility of these documents discourage frequent handling. However, they are also highly valuable collections that should be made known and disseminated to promote research. For this reason, the Library dedicates considerable time and effort to digitizing these heritage collections, primarily to host digitized images and documents on the Maresía platform. The Library service currently has only two outdated scanners, and therefore requests the purchase of new scanners with the necessary capabilities to efficiently digitize the University of La Laguna's heritage documentary collections.
