Digitization of the Miguel Tarquis photographic archive

AMOUNT: 11.000 €

It is an archive of immense interest for the study of the history, art, and ethnography of the Canary Islands, as it contains photographs of numerous monuments and artistic objects from the archipelago, as well as landscapes, farming implements, and more. The value of this collection is remarkable, as evidenced by the fact that it has been consulted by leading researchers, including the director of the Prado Museum, art restorers, geographers, and ethnographers. It was assembled to document the subject of Art History in the Canary Islands, and thanks to these photographs, we now have a record of works of art that have disappeared due to various circumstances or have been subsequently restored, of rural areas and farming implements, and of landscapes that have been significantly altered.
