Dignified and diverse care in old age: inclusion of LGBTIQA+ older people in residences in Tenerife

The LGBTIQA+ older adult community is a particularly vulnerable group in the face of aging and dependency, both due to their age and their sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. Recent studies (Carrascosa et al., 2024; Government of Navarre, 2023) reveal a double structural discrimination, invisibility, and inadequate social and healthcare services that meet their specific needs.

Party

This innovative art-health-citizenship program addresses a complex and multifaceted challenge of enormous importance in our contemporary society: Unwanted Loneliness. It works with groups of adolescents and adults over 65, using a multidisciplinary approach that combines knowledge and tools from disciplines such as health sciences, sociology, and the performing arts.

Cooperative physical activities for intergenerational socio-affective interaction

This project includes a series of courses and workshops that cover the theoretical and practical foundations of cooperative physical activities and how these can contribute to the development and enrichment of socio-affective bonds between groups of different generations (university and non-university students and older people).

Artistic Mediation

This intervention/research project consists of a series of art mediation workshops for older adults, conducted in and for associations, groups, or institutions serving senior citizens. The project has been validated by the Department of Social Action of the Island Council and aims to assess the impact of artistic activities on the social and emotional well-being of participants. The framework for this project is art mediation, an approach in which creative and reflective processes are adapted to individual and collective needs, promoting a socially transformative vision of the arts.

Investigating the Digital Divide: A Battle for the Inclusion of Older People

The proposal of this project in the context of the Chair is to investigate and analyze the barriers that hinder the access of older people to digital applications, which are increasingly necessary for daily life, and the development of technological tools that facilitate their use, employing the latest advances in Artificial Intelligence and carrying out usability tests adapted to older people.
