Presentation

The Center for Studies on Social Inequality and Governance is an inter-university and multidisciplinary center dedicated to the research, analysis, coordination, execution and scientific dissemination of academic studies on social inequality, opportunities and intergenerational social mobility, mainly in the fields of economics, education, health and International Law.

Goals

  • To organize, program and develop specialized teachings across all disciplines related to the issues of inequality of opportunity, poverty, intergenerational mobility and the role of governance on all these matters.
  • To promote and disseminate research on social inequality, well-being, inequality of opportunity, poverty and intergenerational mobility in disciplines such as economics, sociology, public health, psychology, political science or international law.
  • To promote the presentation of research projects, participation in networks and the opening of collaborations with other groups or research centers, whether belonging to the ULL or external to it, as long as they fall within the topics that are the subject of study by CEDESOG.
  • To be a benchmark in the creation and consolidation of a competitive and international network on issues of social inequality.
  • To promote and intensify the multidisciplinary nature of the subjects studied by CEDESOG. To also promote and intensify collaboration with other university institutes, research centers, and/or postgraduate programs on topics studied by CEDESOG.
  • To provide support and advice to academic, scientific and cultural exchanges on matters relevant to CEDESOG.
  • To strengthen the presence of the ULL and the ULPGC, as well as the other universities and institutions attached or linked to the Center in the national and international scene, within the subjects under study of CEDESOG.
  • To carry out collaborative activities with public and private, university and non-university, national and international bodies, in matters that concern CEDESOG, as well as in the mutual interest of both parties.
