Tamarix canariensis Willd.

Canary Island Tarajal

A small, highly branched tree from the base that can grow to tree-like proportions, sometimes exceeding 6 meters in height. Its leaves are very small, scale-like (like fish scales), grayish-green, and overlapping along the young shoots (like tiles on a roof). The small, pedunculate, pink flowers are arranged in terminal, multi-flowered clusters. The fruit is a capsule containing many hairy seeds.
