Mountain codex

This heavily branched, evergreen shrub is endemic to the Canary Islands and can reach up to 4 meters in height. Its new branches are hairy. Its leaves are trifoliate, small, and tightly packed on the stems. Its yellow flowers are arranged in clusters at the ends of the branches, often covering the entire plant in yellow. Its fruits are small, glandular, black-haired legumes. As a legume, it fixes atmospheric nitrogen in the soil.
