The Canary strawberry tree, also known as the apple tree of the Garden of the Hesperides, is endemic to the Canary Islands and belongs to the Ericaceae family. This tree can reach up to 20 meters in height and is easily distinguished by the reddish-orange color of its trunk, whose bark peels off naturally. Its large, lanceolate leaves with serrated edges and hairy petioles are very distinctive. Its flowers resemble Chinese lanterns, ranging in color from pink to whitish. Its orange fruits are edible.
