A more or less branched shrub that rarely exceeds 2 m in height. Leaves alternate, linear-lanceolate to lanceolate, somewhat leathery and grayish-green, with very prominent parallel veins. Yellowish-green flowers arranged in terminal compound umbels (umbels of umbels). It is an endemic species of Macaronesia, and the subspecies is endemic to the Canary Islands.
