An evergreen shrub up to 2 m tall, with more or less erect basal branches and pendulous upper branches. The leaves are green, erect, linear, more or less cylindrical, and somewhat fleshy. The flowers have a pinkish-violet or purple corolla, with a pronounced tube curved almost at a right angle and a limb (part of the corolla not fused into a tube) with five nearly flat lobes, arranged in very showy terminal clusters.
