Shrubby in form, it can reach 1.5 m in height, branching and highly variable in appearance. The leaves are light green, linear-lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, very broad, variable in size, and have a rough texture. The flowers are usually pink, sometimes blue, and may turn white as they mature; they are grouped in complex, lax terminal inflorescences up to 30 cm long. Endemic to the Canary Islands.
