Canary Islands Flora Garden

Asteraceae

Gonospermum fruticosum (Buch) Less.

Queen's crown, lighthouse

The genus Gonospermum is endemic to the Canary Islands, and therefore all species within this genus are endemic. This small shrub, no more than half a meter tall, is common on rocky walls in the islands' damp, rocky areas. It has dark green, deeply divided leaves. The flowers are very small and are arranged in capitulum-like inflorescences, which in turn are grouped into slightly convex, yellow, saucer-shaped synflorescences.
