Ilex perado Aiton subsp. platyphylla (Webb & Berthel.) Tutin

A tree that can reach up to 15 m in height, with a straight, gray trunk. Its leaves are alternate, leathery, and very bright green, ranging from ovate to almost rounded, with a mucronate apex and a margin with teeth that point towards the tip. The white flowers grow in clusters of 3-4 and produce fleshy, red fruits (resembling Christmas holly). This subspecies is endemic to the Canary Islands and is uncommon in the laurel forest.
