A robust herbaceous plant, somewhat woody at the base, with straight stems that rarely exceed 1.5 m in height, and a sticky substance. Leaves are opposite, sessile, ovate-lanceolate, broad, and have parallel veins. Large, pentamerous, tubular, yellow flowers are arranged in sticky terminal panicles. The fruit is a bivalved capsule. Endemic to the Canary Islands.
