A shrub up to 1.5 m tall, woody, and highly branched from the base, with grayish young branches. Leaves alternate, linear to oblong-lanceolate, grayish in color due to the hairs they possess. Yellow flowers with (3) 4 petals arranged in axillary, racemose, and multi-flowered inflorescences at the tips of the branches. Fruit with 3-4 pods (as in spurge and cardoon).
