A woody shrub, sparsely branched with very thick branches. Leaves arranged in terminal rosettes, large, glossy green, hairless, and deeply divided, sinuate-pinnatifid, with deltoid lobes. Yellow flowers in large heads arranged in showy terminal racemes, with white-tomentose peduncles. Fruits with pappus for dispersal. This sow thistle is endemic to the central Canary Islands.
