PhD Program in Law, Society and Tourism

The programme has arisen from the need for post-secondary training perceived by several research groups with teaching staff from the Faculties of Law, Social Sciences and Communication, Economics, Business and Tourism, and Humanities, with the support of the University Institute for Social Research and Tourism. These faculties offer a series of degrees and master's degrees that feed into the programme, which is always open to potential doctoral students from other latitudes and backgrounds. Several doctoral students from programmes in extinction at the University of La Laguna are also incorporated, such as the Doctorate in Tourism, as well as others in Law or Social Sciences. It currently has a total of 40 first and second year students, developing their theses between the three lines of research of the doctorate. One of the characteristics of the programme is its interdisciplinarity, which facilitates the interaction of directors with a very diverse research background. Interdisciplinarity enriches the training of students and provides them with a broader perspective than usual when approaching the research leading to their doctoral thesis. Currently, a variety of research projects are being developed in connection with the programme, with international, European, national and regional funding, which provide opportunities for PhD students to join ongoing research.

NOTICE: In the 2022-2023 academic year, there will be no new places offered in the Doctoral Program in Law, Society and Tourism.
