Overview
This micro-credential provides an understanding of the legal, institutional, and quality framework within which university degrees are designed, implemented, and evaluated in the Spanish university system and the European Higher Education Area. It addresses the processes of verification, monitoring, modification, and accreditation, as well as the role of courses, learning outcomes, and evidence in internal and external evaluation. Furthermore, it equips individuals to manage evaluation indicators and data, interpret results, and apply self-assessment and continuous improvement procedures aimed at evidence-based teaching decision-making.
- Understanding the legal, institutional and quality framework in which university degrees are designed, implemented and evaluated in the Spanish university system and in the European Higher Education Area.
- To understand the processes of degree evaluation (verification, monitoring, modification and accreditation) and the documentation associated with each phase.
- Analyze the role of subjects, learning outcomes and evidence in the internal and external evaluation processes of degrees.
- Manage data and evaluation indicators at the subject and degree level to interpret results and support teaching decision-making.
- Apply self-assessment and continuous improvement procedures in university teaching, integrating critical reflection and evidence-based decision making.
To access the microcredential, you will need to:
- To hold an official Spanish university degree or another degree issued by a higher education institution belonging to another Member State of the European Higher Education Area, which qualifies for access to master's level studies in that State.
- Holding a degree issued by an educational system outside the European Higher Education Area without official recognition or a declaration of equivalence. In these cases, the academic director will submit a report to the Academic Committee, which will authorize or deny admission. Under no circumstances will authorization imply official recognition of the foreign degree, nor its recognition for any purpose other than pursuing postgraduate studies at the ULL.
- Students must be between 25 and 64 years old on the date the training begins.
- Being a teaching and research staff member of the University of La Laguna.
Academic program
- Quality assurance in the European Higher Education Area: evaluation of SAIC centers, degrees and teaching staff.
- The evaluation of official qualifications (ex ante, during and ex post): processes of Verification, Monitoring, Modification and renewal of Accreditation (VSMA framework).
- Process phases and associated documentation: analysis, review and data-driven decision making for improvement.
- The role of subjects in the internal (self-assessment) and external evaluation phases. Evidence and relevant aspects:
- The teacher's guide.
- Teaching coordination.
- The evaluative tests.
- The results of academic performance.
- The level of satisfaction of the stakeholders.
- Employment integration.
- Student support.
- Suggestions and complaints.
- Academic staff: profile, evaluation, training and teaching innovation.
- Improvement plans.
The training activities to be carried out during the delivery of the micro-credential will be:
- Theoretical classes: expository, explanatory or demonstration sessions of the contents and knowledge.
- Work: preparation of a study, essay, work… proposed in the subject, either individually or in a group following established guidelines.
- Presentations, debates and defenses of works and projects: activity through which students present works, exercises, projects… based on established criteria, demonstrating sufficiency and maturity in the acquisition of the planned competencies.
- Tutoring (individual, group…): activity in which the teaching staff attends to, facilitates and guides one or more students in the training process.
- Assessment: continuous assessment tests and final exams. Tests may be in person or online, and may be written, oral, or consist of practical exercises.
The course will be conducted using an asynchronous method and will rely on independent student work. The instructors will provide the necessary information and resources for students to use in completing the planned activities through the course's virtual classroom. Students, in turn, should carefully read the task descriptions to ensure their proper completion and may ask any questions through the forum available in the virtual classroom.
Specifically, the methodologies are as follows:
- Lectures/expository method: presentation or explanation by the teaching staff.
- Individual work: individual preparation of assignments/projects/reports, portfolio.
- Tutoring: instruction period in which teachers and students interact with the aim of reviewing and discussing materials and topics of the subject.
The assessment will be formative, based on the completion of the activities and tasks established in the course's virtual classroom. These will be used to evaluate the acquisition of competencies and the achievement of the learning outcomes associated with this course. Activities must be submitted before the start of the next course, using the assignment provided in the virtual classroom.
- Participation in teaching activities, seminars, tutorials, forums, etc.: student participation in teaching activities, forums, etc.
- Written works, memoirs, internship reports, and projects: documents prepared on a topic or activity carried out, following the instructions established by the teaching staff
